"The Lollies write classic 3-minute pop songs which you can’t help singing along to."

Both 22 years old, Kate St. Claire and Jane Mountain formed The Lollies at the start of 1999. The birth of The Lollies "was really painful," Jane remembers, "Kate was really drunk so she doesn’t remember what happened. There was a party and it was 2 days after New Year’s Eve. We wrote the hit single then." Kate concurs, "I don't remember starting The Lollies. I just woke up one day and Jane said, hey we started a band."

The Independent recently described The Lollies as "exquisitely mannered indie-pop with witty, intelligent lyrics."

I never knew why the other kids meant
To be a doctor or a lawyer or the President
All my life I aspired to be
In colour on the cover of the NME

From The Lollies’ "Quite Frankly I Think I Could Do A Better Job Of Being Famous"

"We decided that if a song couldn’t be played while completely plastered it was no good. If you couldn’t sing along with the chorus by the second verse then it was no good," Kate declares.

Their 22-minute set tonight will leave at least a few of The Lollies songs velcroed to your brain.
